Broadway Boogie-Woogie

(Redirected from Broadway Boogie Woogie)

Broadway Boogie-Woogie is a painting by Piet Mondrian completed in 1943, shortly after he moved to New York in 1940. It is considered his masterpiece, and a culmination of his aesthetic. Compared to his earlier work, the canvas is divided into a much larger number of squares. Although he spent most of his work creating abstract work, this painting is considered to have two clear real-world inspirations: the city grid of Manhattan, and the boogie woogie music that he loved to dance to.
