Boston Athenĉum is an historical independent library and museum in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It was founded in 1807 by the Anthology Society and was modelled on the Athenĉum and Lyceum in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
The Athenĉum combines the functions of a library with those of an art gallery and museum. As of 2005, the building holds roughly half a million volumes.
