Boonah, Queensland

Boonah is a town of approximately 3000 persons 84 km and a Local Government Area south-west of Brisbane, Queensland. Its name is Aboriginal Australian and means bloodwood tree (corymbia gummifera). It is the hub of a large agricultural area, including cattle, cereal grains, carrots, potatoes and timber.

It is also nearby to several National Parks including Main Range National Park, Moogerah Peaks National Park, Mount French National Park as well as Lake Moogerah , which is popular with tourists. Nearby also is Boys Town, a juvenile detention centre where young male offenders learn farming skills.
