Robert William "Bob" Goodlatte (born September 22 1952), American politician, has been a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives since 1993, representing the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, he attended Bates College, the Washington and Lee University University . His career in government began in 1977, when he began serving as District Director for Congressman Caldwell Butler of Virginia. Goodlatte was elected to the House in 1992. He chairs the House Agriculture Committee .
