The Battle of Ticonderoga in 1759 was not so much a battle as an investment. In 1758, at the Battle of Ticonderoga (1758) a major British Army was broken by the 'Gibraltar of the West'. This summer, most of the garrison had been removed to defend Quebec, Montreal, and the western forts. Sir Jeffrey Amherst moved north from Lake George and cut off supply lines.

Crown Point and Fort Ticonderoga fell to his advance with no major resistance. However, they did delay his forces and prevent him from joining General Wolfe at the Siege of Quebec.
