Battle of Cannington

The Battle of Cannington, in 878, took place at the fort of Cynwit, now recognised as being on Cannington Hill, near Bridgwater in Somerset, England.

In a major engagement, a party of vikings who had landed on the coast at Combwich were defeated by troops lead by Odda. The Danish attacks were finally ended a few months later by their defeat at the hands of Alfred the Great during the Battle of Edington.
