Bar council

A bar council in a Commonwealth country is a professional body that regulates the profession of barristers together with the Inns of Court. Solicitors are regulated by the Law society.

Where there is no distinction between barristers and solicitors (i.e. where there is a fused profession) the professional body may be called either the Law Society or the Bar Council.
