Bakhtiari

The Bakhtiari (or Bakhtiyari) are a people in southern Iran. A small percentage of them are still nomadic livestock herders. Bakhtiaris speak a dialect of Persian. Numerical estimates of their total population widely vary.

Many significant Iranian politicians (e.g. Mossadegh) are of Bakhtiari origin.
