The Atharis are the smallest of the three schools of Sunni Islamic theology. The methodology of the Atharis is to avoid delving into extensive theological speculation, and to avoid entering into purely rational discussions of matters related to beliefs. Rather, their discussion and presentation of beliefs revolved around the primary texts of the Qur'an and Sunna.

Most Muslims who follow the Hanbali school of law are Atharis.
