There are several Armstrong awards, named after different people called Armstrong.
Lance Armstrong award
The Lance Armstrong award for cancer prevention efforts is a tribute to Lance Armstrong’s succesful fight against cancer. Lance Armstrong went on to win the Tour de France six times. It is presented by the Lance Armstrong foundation.
In 2004 it was presented to the Colorado Cancer Coalition.
Neil A. Armstrong award
"This award recognizes exceptional career employees who demonstrate the pioneering spirit and professional and personal achievement levels of the former astronaut."
This award is given out by Milacron Inc. Former astronaut Neil A Armstrong retired in September 2000 from Milacron’s board of directors after 20 years of service.
Specific criteria for the Neil A. Armstrong Award are:
- Opening new frontiers through the development of new technologies or new markets.
- Exceeding expectations through critical contributions impacting key operating results.
- Exemplifying Milacron’s core values of customer satisfaction, employee opportunity and integrity in all areas.
The first winner of the Neil A. Armstrong Award was Ralph Kelly in 2001.
Louis Armstrong award
This is the "top senior Jazz award" given out by the Mona Shores performing arts center for "outstanding musical achievement and dedication to the program".
Louis Armstrong was an American jazz musician.
The last winner of the Louis Armstrong Award was Phillip Jennings in 2004.
Robert L. Armstrong award
This award is given out by the “Northeastern Mosquito Control Association” to "anyone deserving of an award for meritorious service to the Northeastern Mosquito Control Association".
It is called after Robert L. Armstrong, retired employee for the Northeastern Mosquito Control Association.
James E. Armstrong award
Given out by the university of Notre Dame, the James E. Armstrong Award is conferred on an alumnus/alumna who is a current employee of Notre Dame and has rendered distinguished service to the University. It was established in 1978.
In 2003 it was presented to Joseph A. Russo.
Lewis S. Armstrong award
Each year the Indiana University South Bend School of Business and Economics presents this award for distinguished achievement, leadership and contributions to the advancement of business and quality of life in Michiana.
In 2004 it was presented to Richard J. Jensen.
Foster Armstrong award
The Foster Armstrong Award is presented each year to an individual, organization or student whose work with the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative has shown exemplary commitment to improving the public realm of the cities, towns and neighborhoods of Northeast Ohio
The first recipient of the Foster Armstrong Award was Father S. Michael Franz in 2001.
