Anglo-Saxon gods

The Anglo-Saxon gods were cognate to the gods of Norse mythology in particular and of Germanic mythology in general. Very little information has survived about them, and it is uncertain whether they should be considered distinct from their Nordic counterparts.

The weekday names Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday come from Tiw, Wóden, Þunor, and Fríge respectively, through the Old English days Tíwesdæg, Wódnesdæg, Þunresdæg and Frígedæg.
