Abe Vigoda (born February 24, 1921) is an American movie and television actor best known for his supporting character roles, notably in the 1972 movie The Godfather, as well as his portrayal of the character Detective Sgt. Fish on the television series Barney Miller and the spinoff Fish.

Vigoda was born in New York City. He makes regular appearances as himself on the television show Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

In 1982, Vigoda enjoyed a little extra publicity when People magazine declared him dead. Vigoda took the error with good humor, posing for a photograph showing him sitting up in a coffin, holding the magazine in question. Since then his erroneous death has remained a running joke for Vigoda.

On 14 February, 2005, the Abe Vigoda current status Mozilla Firefox Extension was listed on Fark.com. The extension shows "Abe Vigoda's current status" in the status bar of the Firefox browser. Due to massive publicity generated by the release of this extension, abevigoda.com (from which the extension draws its status indicator) was knocked out of commission, in a process that is often called "farking". For about 18 hours afterward, the current status said "farked" instead of "alive".
