  • Salvatore Maranzano is sent to New York by Sicilian Mafia Don Vito Cascio Ferro in an attempt to unify the New York Italian Mafia into a single organization.
  • Sam Valante , recently hired by Joe Aiello , is killed while arriving in Chicago.
  • January 6 - Theodore Anton , a restaurant manager above Al Capone's Hawthorne Inn , is kidnapped and later killed by Bugs Moran's North Side Gang .
  • April 4 - North Side Gang member Vincent Drucci is killed by a police detective while in police custody.
  • July - Ray Hyland , a gunman for Charles Birger , and Birger associate Arthur Newman are convicted of murder and sentenced to life inprisonment.
  • July 1 - Frankie Yale is killed while driving down 44th Street on his way to a meeting at a Brooklyn speakeasy. It is the first time machine guns are used in a gangland killing in New York.
  • August 24 - Green Ones members Anthony F. Russo and Vincent Spicuzza are killed in Chicago supossedly lured there by the rival Cuckoos Gang in an attempt to murder Al Capone. Hours later Green Ones member Benjamin Giamonco is killed in a gunfight attempting to avenge their deaths.
  • October 13 - Cleveland gangster Joseph Lonardo is killed by members of the Porello Gang .
  • October 15 - New York labor union racketeer Jacob Orgen is killed by Louis Buchalter and Jacob Shapiro . Orgen's bodyguard Jack Diamond was severly wounded in the attack but later survived.
  • October 27 - St. Louis businessman Charles Palmisano is murdered by members of the Green Ones after refusing to pay extortion money.
  • November 15 - Green Ones leader Benedetto Amato is shot in the back and killed by rival gang members of the Cuckoos Gang in St. Louis.
