13 Going on 30 is a 2004 movie starring Jennifer Garner about a young girl in 1987 named Jenna Rink who, on her 13th birthday, wishes to be a 30-year-old adult, because she is ignored by the cool girls in school, and the cute boy she likes, almost knows her name. The next morning, she awakes to find that her wish has come true and she finds herself seventeen years in the future and initially frightened but then noticing that she is gorgeous, successful with a great job in a magazine,with a fabulous Fifth Avenue apartment, and with a handsome boyfriend, with no idea how she did it. She soon realizes her best friend, Matt (Mark Ruffalo) is engaged to be married, and they are no longer in contact, having to deal with adult problems instead of simple teenager problems.
The movie opened on April 23, 2004 with an initial box office draw of $22 million USD in its first weekend.
Renée Zellweger was originally considered for the part held by Jennifer Garner. The actors Christa B. Allen, Renee Olstead, Judy Greer, Andy Serkis & Kathy Baker also appear in the film.
