Theodor Escherich

An Austrian pediatritian who in 1886 published a monograph on the relationship between certain bacteria and the physiology of infant intestinal systems. Species of Escherichia coli, the bacteria he isolated and studied are named after him. He is also associated Escherich's Reflex.

He was born November 29, 1857, Ansbach, Mittelfranken; died February 15, 1911, Vienna.
